Guest guest
Courtesy of SFgov.org Have you ever needed to reach a city department to ask a question or get some help? There are 2300 City and County of San Francisco telephone numbers listed in the telephone book. How did you know what number to call? Citizens, businesses, visitors and city employees themselves often have trouble getting assistance from city government because its so difficult to find the right resource. That is why the City and County of San Francisco has created a 3-1-1 Customer Service Center. When dialing 3-1-1 from any San Francisco-based telephone (415 area code), callers will get assistance from an agent 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The agent will provide information, direct a call to a department or refer the caller to another resource as appropriate. 3-1-1 is expected to launch fulltime in March 2007!!! ******************************************************************* PS. I just called and the hours of operation are Monday-Friday 6 AM to 8 PM. Saturday-Sunday 8 AM - 6 PM ******************************************************************* " New York City's 311 center has fielded about 7 million calls since opening about a year ago. New York's 311 service can field requests and questions in 170 languages. New York's 311 system has about 100 operators working at a time and averages 30,000 calls a day.
