Guest guest
I'm doing a dinner and hopefully astronomy party this Thursday, May 17. We’ll meet for vegan dinner at Shangri-la Vegetarian Restaurant (2026 Irving St., near 21st Ave. S.F.) followed by a trip to ocean beach to observe a super thin crescent moon, Mercury (!), Venus, Saturn, satellites, and diverse stars. If you have a telescope be sure to bring it along! Looking at the weather forecase, it is a bit iffy whether we'll get a full view of everything, or if clouds will show up. Even if it does end up cloudy, the dinner will still happen and I will distribute star maps to help you find things on succeeding clear evenings and make a few remarks about what to look for over the next few months. Precise timing is key here. We’ll meet for dinner at 5:45pm sharp, and leave at 7:45pm to get to the beach in time to see all that stuff. Please RSVP by email to dg2222 by Wednesday night. Please include an estimate of the probability that you will in fact show up. Dinner cost to be split among participants - probably about $13-$15 each.
