Guest guest
Hello! The kickoff to the historic ballot initiative some of you have been hearing about for weeks or months is finally here! Please join the fantastic CEO of the Humane Society of the United States, Wayne Pacelle, and many local activists tonight October 2 from 7-10pm at the SF-SPCA for the kickoff to learn about the effort to pass perhaps the most significant law ever for animals in this country! An amazing ballot initiative process is being launched to outlaw the cruel confinement of calves raised for veal, pigs used for breeding, and egg-laying hens, in California. Currently, these animals are kept in such small cages or crates on factory farms that they cannot even turn around. This initiative would change that! WE NEED YOUR HELP to gather 650,000 signatures in the state in a period of five months (starting in October) in order to get the measure on the ballot! Learn more at the campaign kickoff: Tuesday October 2, 7-10pm San Francisco-SPCA 2500 16th St. The SPCA is about a 15 minute walk from 16th St. BART in the Mission District of San Francisco. There is parking available. The kickoff will be a great opportunity for you to learn more about the campaign, find out how you can help, and get connected with people in your area. Other kickoffs will be taking place next week in Sacramento, LA, and San Diego as well. Details for these are at the end of this email. Please forward this to people in those (and this!) area! You can still be involved in the campaign without attending the kickoff, but Tuesday evening will really explain a lot and leave you excited and inspired to get started volunteering! Email me with any questions. If you haven't already, please also email me if you know that you want to be in some way involved in the campaign--particularly if you cannot make it tonight. This will be a fun and inspiring night! Hope to see many of you there! Nora P.S. Please forward this to anyone you think might care about animals!
