Greenpeace & kangaroo war

Of all the positions one could choose and advocate to help

fight global warming, Greenpeace chooses the mass slaughter

of kangaroos? I ask this as a very sad and disappointed

long-time Greenpeace member.

Do you really think that the mentality and practice and

cruelty, destruction, and animal slaughter will get us to a

better place, a cleaner world, a more peaceful and

sustainable society?

The means do not justify the ends; the means are the ends

as we create the path as we walk along it.

Instead of your ridiculous proposal, we should be

advocating greener lifestyles which include greener

mentalities and greener diets, green living that will

promote peace, as in the name Greenpeace, as opposed to

violence and destruction.

Please visit Meat Eating and Global Warming at

Hi Peter. Thanks for your response.

I went to the big switch web site you recommended, but here's the

problem: you're still willfully ignoring a major contributor to global

climate change: meat.

This is part of what's on that web site:

* Personal action on climate change

o Switch to Green Power

<http://www.thebigswitch.org.au/index.cfm?page=whatCanIdo.page & pageUUID=41AD694C\

-4235-F224-A26705A8F950FF9B>

o Shrink your energy use

-4235-F224-A523B66061D70D5A>

o Shift to cleaner transport

These are all good things, of course, but one has to wonder why an

otherwise courageous, independent, and scientifically-based organization

like Greenpeace doesn't have a listing for " reduce your meat

consumption " , given that the livestock industry is one of the top

contributors to global warming, accounting for about 18% of total

greenhouse gas emissions.

Please visit " Meat Eating and Global Warming " at

www.ivu.org/members/globalwarming.html and Eco-Eating at www.brook.com/veg for

some good ideas. You might also want to visit Greenpeace's hidden " On Your

Plate " page at

http://www.greenpeace.org/usa/news/green-living-guide/on-your-plate for more

information from your own organization.
