Guest guest
San Francisco Student Nutrition Services has been working to install new salad bars at 25 school sites this year. So far 18 have been installed, including one at June Jordan Small School for Equity and Excelsior Middle School (same campus). As of January 2nd this year, each day all lettuces offered at the salad bars are organic. Urban Sprouts is working with the Student Nutrition and Physical Activity subcommittee to conduct evaluations measuring the impact and success of the salad bars opened this year. As we work to acquire funds to support salad bars at more schools we need to be able to speak to their impact on healthy food choices and participation in school lunch programs. We could really use your support for this! Please let us know if you would like to help us conduct the evaluation. There will be a training for conducting the evaluation in advance of the dates. The schools to be assessed will be: High Schools - Balboa, Newcomer, June Jordan, Thurgood Marshall Middle Schools – Excelsior, Francisco, Horace Mann, Marina, AP Giannini, Presidio Elementary Schools - John Yehall Chin, Fairmount, Harvey Milk, Bret Harte, Miraloma, Starr King, Ulloa, West Portal, Grattan The training: February 4th from 10-11am School sites evaluation dates: February 7th and February 14th during lunch period Please let us know if you would like to participate. We are hoping to have the same volunteers on each day at the same sites but if you can only make one of these dates let us know. Thank you! -Esperanza p.s.
