Guest guest
Wowweee! Hey Gang! I was at Whole Foods in Berkeley yesterday. I may be way behind the times, but when I walked past the dairy case I saw SOY WHIP next to the Reddy Whip. Its in a can dispenser just like reddy whip. I immediately took 2. And then...shhhh...dont tell anyone....I HAD to try it. So I opened it right there in the aisle and sprayed it into my mouth. It was SO GOOD! A woman walking by with her two little kids said good naturedly: " Kids, dont ever do what that lady is doing! " And winked at me. LOL!! I have found heaven! I put some on my hot choc soymilk last night and plan to make an organic crust, chocolate cream pie today with my new whipped topping as the star of the show. Go out and get yerself some! Guest guest
I made some great whipped topping for thanksgiving pumpkin pies several years ago. IIRC the recipe was from Lorna Sass and had cashews, vanilla, maple syrup, and maybe some rice milk, and it was thick enough to be a topping, not liquid. It took a couple minutes to make it in a blender. If I wanted to make a whipped topping even faster (and cheaper -- cashews have gotten so expensive!), I'd substitute soft tofu for the cashews. Another place to look for great toppings is Vegan Cupcakes Take Over the World. None of these come in an aerosol can, but you can make as much or as little as you like and play around with recipes, which I think is even more fun. Guest guest
i always make my own of these kinds of things, to. That is why i was curious as to what kind of nasty ingredients are in the packaged ones. phil yarrow wrote: I made some great whipped topping for thanksgiving pumpkin pies several years ago.
