Guest guest
My favorite newspaper (probably the best Newspaper in America), wrote ANOTHER article of a Bay Area VEG restaurant. The author says UBUNTU www.ubuntunapa.com, is one of two most promising new restaurants in America. What a BIG BIG compliment! There's no way anyone can have the best answer........since there's thousands of new restaurants opening every month!! http://www.nytimes.com/2008/03/19/dining/19count.html?st=cse & sq=2+survive%2C+now\ %2C+to+choose++march+19%2C+2008 & scp=1 (if you have problems opening, pls email me, I can give you a smaller link.) This is amazing, the Bay Area has never received so much INTERNATIONAL exposure on our veggie restaurants. One reason our area is special, is we have the best local wine and PRODUCE in the world... (by the way, my girlfriend got a job in the wine industry,,,,hopefully she can share some vegan wines tips with us-great, huh, Das?) == the last Frugal Foods event, there were 5 female and 1 male veggies at the event, the rest were meat-eater (I " m guessing). The total attendance was 12 female and 4 males. So veggie guys, this is one event there are more females. (yes, there's more veggie females than veggie male. Veggie guys don't believe me, but there's hard data out there. The females don't come out as often) below are the latest cooking club schedule, Moses doesn't know what recipes he'll be using till we get closer to the event. If you are interested in an event and want more vegan entrees; just say you are interested in attending 4/xx day and would like to have vegan entrees. (a lot of positive encouragement can help) Vegans pls make sure you confirm with him how many entrees are vegan. I don't want you to get disappointed. I signed up for the 5th Tuesday of the month, hope to see you... I met 3 new veggie gals at the last event: A, L, T.... and by the way, Vegan Gina is a really cool lady... I " m NOT setting anybody up, but all those veggie gals are very nice and good looking. I'm glad to see that, so people can realize veggie food can make you " good looking, good loving person " Maybe more " vegan b*tches in the kitch " (it's a name of a new cooking book) are coming soon.. It would be great to have a big gathering where all the closet veggies come out! ----- Forwarded Message ---- J Moses Ceaser <moses sunny_outdoors Friday, March 21, 2008 4:57:44 PM April at Frugal Foodies April is a five Tuesday month at Frugal Foodies so we'll have all the regular stuff plus a very special fifth Tuesday. It's also a quirky month because three of the five nights fall on pseudo-holidays including April Fools Day, Pay Uncle Sam Day, and Earth Day, and perhaps we'll do something special for each. But before telling you about all the nights, an important note from the management©While we've been selling out most every night at Frugal Foodies over the last couple of months, I'm instituting something new that you might want to join to address the occasional night when we're a bit underd: Last-Minute Mailing List: as you likely know, Frugal Foodies sends out one general email a month-this one-but we've not had a way to let people know about last-minute openings that may arise. That is, until now. So now, you have the choice of putting yourself on the Last-Minute Mailing List, which means that you'll get an email from me, generally 24-72 hours before a night when there are several open spots. So if you'd like to be put on this special list, please send me an email with " Last-Minute Mailing List " in the subject line, and I'll add you to that list. As for what's coming up this month, here goes: Tuesday, April 1st-while it's April Fool's Day to the rest of the universe, it's Cuisines of the World Night at Frugal Foodies. And we're up to the letter O. But since there's only one country that starts with the letter O, we're going to join forces with the letter P and enjoy food from such places as Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, Peru, and the Philippines. That's a good culinary line up, no? Oman it is! Sorry for the cheap pun-the food will be better than that, I promise. Tuesday, April 8th-it's Cooking the Books Night at Frugal Foodies, and we'll be featuring an old vegetarian standard. This month we'll be cooking all our dishes from the Cabbagetown Café Cookbook, by Julie Jordan. This was actually one of the very first vegetarian cookbooks that I owned and it's filled with lots of hearty and relatively easy recipes. According to a review, " This book is a treasured collection of over 175 of the cafe's 'greatest hits,' including appetizers, breads, salads, soups, pasta, pizza, quiches, Mexican entrees, Indian dinners, Sunday brunch, and dessert. 'A down-home vegetarian guide with lots of good nutrition, straight-forward, inexpensive recipes and a good deal of the author's unassuming charm.' " Tuesday, April 15th-it's Tax Day in the US and Guest Chef Night at Frugal Foodies. Fact is that while I've lined up guest chefs for May and June, I'm still working on April so it's Mystery Guest Chef that you'll be signing up for (I'll try to post updated info on the website as I have it). But not to worry, guest chef nights are the quickest to sell out and I'm sure that you'll not be disappointed if you register for this night, chef unseen. I look forward to seeing all the adventurous types out on this special night. Are you up for the magical mystery tour? Tuesday, April 22nd-this is a big night in that we'll not only be enjoying honey as our special guest ingredient-it will be in every one of our dishes-but this will also be a benefit night for a local cause. And it's Earth Day, so in April, we'll be raising funds for the garden and cooking program at Dover Elementary School in San Pablo. Funds will help provide the food ingredients necessary to continue the cooking projects so much enjoyed by the students at Dover. Aaron Reaven, one of the nutrition educators at Dover, will show photos of past lessons and projects at the school and will discuss the values and benefits embodied in the Dover program. To learn how the benefit nights work at Frugal Foodies, please visit http://www.frugalfoodies.org/benefit before you sign up. So come for the honey, or come to donate your money. It's going to be a great way to cap off Earth Day so sign up soon. Tuesday, April 29th-it's a rare fifth Tuesday so we'll be doing another Greatest Hits Night at Frugal Foodies. We've not had one of these nights for at least six months so there will be lots of tasty treats to cook, eat, and take home. This means that we'll be revisiting some of the tastiest dishes from recent guest chef nights, amazing cookbooks, and our culinary travels around the world. The long and short of it is that you'll have one of the best $7 meals you've ever had. Please remember that you must pre-register for all nights at Frugal Foodies, and may do so by sending an email to info. And before signing up, please be sure to read the website, and especially to check out http://frugalfoodies..com/ThingsYouShouldKnow. I look forward to seeing you at a Frugal Foodies in April©Moses -- Please consider having Fotomio's Digital Photo Kiosk at your next party or event! ********************* J Moses Ceaser/Fotomio 800 Heinz Avenue, Suite 14 Berkeley, CA 94710 510-540-7008 510-540-6976fax moses http://www.fotomio..com http://www.frugalfoodies.org http://www.enlightstoryworks.com I will try ask the organizer to have another vegan cooking night. I know for sure there's an event coming where 70% should be vegan... again, I'll do more begging and research. note: Frugal Foodies is held in a vegetarian household, cooking mostly organic produce the above are my personal comments, sorry if I offend anybody ==
