Guest guest
Poleng Lounge One of the most popular trends of late is dishes from many Asian cultures on the same menu. What sets Poleng Lounge apart is the young chef-owner Tim Luym, a 2007 Chronicle Rising Star chef. His heritage is Chinese and Spanish, but he grew up in Manila. His varied background shows up on the menu: Filipino ceviche with butterfish; curried corn fritters; Madras samosas; and bok choy steamed with shiitake sauce. Tea, a specialty, is also included in many drinks and some dishes. The interior feels like a tropical oasis, with a dance club in back that's also used for private events. Specialties: Buddha's Treasures (tea-sprinkled dumplings); garlic crab noodles; beef tenderloin with marrow; tea-based cocktails. Prices: $6-$15 Seating: 62 1751 Fulton St. San Francisco Tel. (415) 441-1751 www.polenglounge.com Hours: dinner 6-10 p.m. Tues.-Sun.
