Raw Food Dinner tonight - April 22nd - at UC Berkeley and You are

invited!

*Earth Day: April 22

(2700 Hearst Ave in Berkeley): April 22*

http://caldining.berkeley.edu/foothill.html

In honor of Earth Day -I am once again working iwth UC Berkeley

Student Dining Services to host a Raw Food Night - TONIGHT...

Special Raw Menu Includes:

The ever so popular KALE SALAD

a Fabulous VEGETABLE TERIYAKI STIR FRY - um - I mean Stirred not Fried

and a scrumptious WALNUT PEAR TORTE with CASHEW CREAM

Dinner is only $9 for an all you can eat buffet of both cooked and raw

food.

(Is that an amazing deal or what?)

I will be there from 5-7:00PM.

As some of you might know I have been eating a Raw Food Diet for the

past nine years.

In addition to this I also have my certification as an Associate Raw

Food Chef with a degree from Living Light Culinary Institute.

I have had the pleasure of working with the fabulous Cal Dining chefs

to co-create two Raw Food nights this month for the UC Berkeley

Students and Staff and Guests . Yes - this means you can come too!

This is something that I am passionate about and am honored to have

the opportunity to share with the students and staff at UC Berkeley

and with YOU.

Raw and Living Food refers to foods that are kept below 116 degrees. A

raw and living food diet supports eating naturally grown wild or

organically and sustainably raised fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds,

seaweeds and occasionally sprouted grains. Most significantly, during

the preparation of raw food dishes nothing is cooked, at least in the

traditional sense. Nothing is heated or cooked above 116 degrees F.

There are no dairy, animal products, animal derived products, sugar,

canned food or processed ingredients.

People get into raw food for a number of reasons, and here are some of

the many and varied reasons:

Ethics: Some arrive by a path that involves a search for more natural,

ethical and sustainable ways of living; a more compassionate way of

life, as a natural extension of vegetarianism or veganism, or being '

green'.

Spiritual: Some sense the spiritual benefits, cleansing mind and body,

with the widespread tradition of eating only or mainly raw fruit

amongst wise men and women.

Health and Healing: Others arrive at raw foods simply to maximize

their health, or through serious illness or disease, having heard of

the great healing effects of a raw diet, with particularly green

juices and ' living foods' having many significant benefits in

fighting serious ' lifestyle diseases' such as cancer, diabetes,

crone's disease or heart disease.

Weight loss: It is true that some people who have struggled with

conventional diets, different degrees of food disorders and issues

relating to weight have found the raw or mainly raw diet to be of

great benefit.

A Positive Life: Eating a lot of raw foods can be a fad for some, but

for the majority, a mainly or totally raw food lifestyle is the result

of a genuine search for an improvement in their lifestyle, for their

own benefit or to benefit their relationship with the planet, or both

of course a big first step in being able to walk away from processed

foods and toward whole foods.

hope to see you!

....it's a matter of switching gears, never looking back, and BECOMING

that person today that you always dreamed you'd be. Entertain every

thought, say every word, and make every decision from their point of

view. Walk the way they would, dress the way they wold dress, and

spend your free time the way they would spend theirs. Choose the

friends they would choose, eat the meals they would eat, and love and

appreciate yourself the way they would.

These steps MUST come in order for the to be change. There's no other

option, no other way... But, since that person is who you REALLY

are, that makes this assignment downright effortless. Just stop being

who your aren't.
