Animals in Entertainment Campaigner Position Objective: To help coordinate PETA's circus campaigns and work with animal rights activists across the country to draw attention to the cruelty inherent in using animals for entertainment Term of Employment: Full-time Reports to: Assistant Director of Animals in Entertainment Campaigns Primary Job Duties: Develop public-education and media campaigns about animals in entertainment Research, write letters, and make phone calls about campaign issues Work with the Marketing Department to promote PETA's animals in entertainment campaign issues online Contact activists across the country and help them organize demonstrations, tabling, and other events Conduct media interviews and work with media outlets to promote campaigns and ensure that PETA's message is seen and heard Travel throughout the country, as needed, to facilitate and participate in demonstrations, tabling, and special events Perform step-backs at least bi-weekly to analyze the success of the campaign and its many facets, brainstorm, or consider issues relating to the campaign Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor Qualifications: One to two years of college or equivalent experience required Willingness and ability to participate in and promote a variety of provocative and progressive campaigns and demonstrations Ability to communicate with a variety of people in a personable manner Ability to develop and maintain relationships with activists to mount effective public campaigns Excellent organizational skills Ability to think creatively Thorough knowledge of animal rights issues and a commitment to the objectives of the organization Must be at least 21 years of age Must have a valid driver's license with three years' clean driving record Willingness to travel extensively Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
