Guest guest
Californians for Humane Farms <director May 12, 2008 7:52:32 PM PDT scott 3 ways you can help Dear committed volunteers, If you attended one of the phase two kick-off events in Northern California, thank you! If you were unable to attend, you can still help advance the ballot initiative now that we're officially certified for the ballot. We won't be assigned a proposition number until late June, but here are the three major ways you can help now: 1. Endorsements. Many voters are influenced by who is endorsing the ballot initiative, so having a broad coalition is critical. We've got some great endorsers already, but we need a lot more. You can start gathering endorsements from your personal contacts - your veterinarian, any family farmers you know, your church leaders, shelters/rescue groups you work with, and local businesses you frequent. Click here to read the campaign tips for gathering endorsements. You can download the appropriate endorsement packet here. 2. Fundraising. The opposition is well-funded, already reporting more than $600,000 in contributions primarily from the egg industry. They say they plan to spend $10 million to fight us. We need to be able to compete with them on TV ads, an expensive but critical component of any ballot initiative. Were you a member of the Thousand Signature Club? Now it's now time to join the Thousand Dollar Club and commit to raising $1,000 from friends, family, colleagues, and others! Ask 10 friends for $100, 20 friends for $50, or even 100 friends for $10. Hold a bake sale at work. Hold a yard sale. Run a race and ask friends to sponsor you. Request donations in lieu of gifts for your birthday or give donations in lieu of birthday gifts. The ideas are endless! Just make sure to follow the fund raising rules. Click here to read them! Of course, the best way to get comfortable asking others for money is to first make your own donation. People are inspired by others' commitment and much more likely to join you. Donate online today. Finally, mark your calendar! On Sunday, July 27th -- 100 days before the election -- we want to hold 100 house parties throughout California and beyond. We'll provide you with a campaign video, flyers, signs, bumper stickers -- the works -- and access to a free conference call with campaign leaders that will connect all of the parties together. You provide the house, some food, some friends, and together we'll raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for the animals. It will be an amazing celebration and the perfect kickoff to the final drive to victory. Check out the guide to hosting a house party and start planning your event now. More details on this soon! 3. Letters to the editor (LTEs). Media coverage of the initiative won't heat up until after the June election, but you can send brief LTEs whenever you come across articles in your local paper relating to animals, farm animals, food, animal agriculture, factory farming, etc. Writing letters now will help let the editors know that their readers care about this issue. Make sure to review this important guide to LTE writing. And remember we are here to help you with this -- just email press with any questions or to have us review your letter. With your help, we are ready to win this campaign! Remember that we're always here if you have any questions. Contact your local coordinatoror director any time. We're a team and there's nothing we won't do to ensure your -- and the animals' -- success. Thank you again for all you've done, all you're doing, and all you will do to end some of the most egregious abuses faced by farm animals. --------- If you received this message from a friend, you can sign up at http://www.humanecalifornia.org .. --------- Want to ? http://www.humanecalifornia.org/ondelivery/ Visit your subscription management page to modify your email communication preferences or update your personal profile. --------- Californians for Humane Farms 6311 Van Nuys Blvd. PMB 438 Van Nuys, CA 91401 USA http://www.humanecalifornia.org | director --------- --------- This email meets Federal CAN SPAM laws.
