Building the Green Economy: Success Stories from the Grassroots

Tuesday, June 17, 1:00-3:00 pm

The Foundation Center-San Francisco

312 Sutter Street, #606

San Francisco, CA 94108

Successful issue-based fundraising is often part of a larger

movement building effort in which community members are passionately

engaged, eager to contribute time and resources, and enthusiastic to

spread the message. Jason Marks, co-author of Building the Green

Economy, will join us to share inspiring stories and lessons learned

from the front lines of the green movement including strategies for

more effective movement building and grassroots fundraising.

Building the Green Economy: Success Stories from the Grassroots

charts the efforts of local communities to create a more

ecologically sustainable and socially responsible economy. The book

tells the stories of people who have successfully grown urban farms;

built wind power projects; fought toxic polluters; created networks

of locally owned enterprises; established worker coops; and founded

businesses that place people and the planet before short-term

profit. Drawing on his extensive experience at Global Exchange and

co-manager and chief grant writer of San Francisco's Alemany Farm,

author, Jason Mark, offers a " greenprint " for how, together, we can

realize a more safe and humane society.

This program is offered free of charge. Space is limited. You can

register online, in person, or by calling (415) 397-0902.
