Guest guest Posted July 22, 2008 Report Share Posted July 22, 2008 Located outside in the Civic Center area of San Francisco, the Victory Garden was just planted a few weeks ago and features a wide variety of heritage organic vegetables suited to the Bay Area microclimate. Food grown will be donated to those with limited access to healthy organic produce through a partnership with local food banks and meals programs. This is the first time the Civic Center has seen an edible garden on its lawn since 1943, and the Victory Garden will be in operation DAILY from now until September 19, 2008. Here is the full need: Garden Docents: 4-8 Needed Daily; July 21 through September 19 This is a great opportunity for people to learn about the inner- workings and details of the Victory Garden and share their knowledge with a diversity of visitors. Must be well-spoken and out-going as responsibilities include answering questions from the general public, and either leading or assisting with tours and garden-based education activities. Morning shifts (9:00am to 1:00pm) and afternoon shifts (12:30pm to 4:30pm) are available, or sign up for a full day! Training and materials provided. Ideally, volunteers will commit to working a regular weekly schedule (for example, every Thursday morning) – or will sign up for at least FOUR (4) total shifts.
