Guest guest
thanks for link. i support prop 2. i heard a discussion of prop 2 on kqed radio this morning and someone against it said that it wouldn't affect the importation from out of state or from mexico of animal products affected here in california; does anybody know if this is true? ideally, imported products would be required to meet the same criteria, for ethically reasons as well as for market competition reasons too. thanks, brian --- On Fri, 9/26/08, Janet Tom <janet.tom wrote: Janet Tom <janet.tom Re: SF Chron Editorial supports Prop 2 Cc: janet.tom Friday, September 26, 2008, 5:33 PM Hi everyone, This editorial ran in the San Francisco Chronicle's Open Forum on Wed. 9/24/08. Guest guest
It is true; these standards will only apply to chickens, etc. raised in CA. CA cannot legislate how animals in other states are kept, and cannot keep products from other states out. It is unlikely many eggs would come from Mexico (apparently they don't grow much feed corn). The Yes on Prop 2 website addresses this issue in more detail; go to http://www.yesonprop2.com/index.php?option=com_content & view=article & id=116 & Itemi\ d=123 (or http://tinyurl.com/4tgeec) Karen , brian wesenberg <brumali wrote: > i heard a discussion of prop 2 on kqed radio this morning and someone against it said that it wouldn't affect the importation from out of state or from mexico of animal products affected here in california; does anybody know if this is true? ideally, imported products would be required to meet the same criteria, for ethically reasons as well as for market competition reasons too.
