Greetings Bay Area Activists,

Beyt Tikkun, a vegetarian/vegan friendly congregation founded by the

famous rabbi, best-selling author, and editor of Tikkun Magazine,

Michael Lerner, will be holding services throughout the holidays for

Jews and non-Jews alike. The Jewish High Holy Days begin on September

29 with Rosh HaShanah (at sunset) and end on October 9 with Yom

Kippur.

On the second day of Yom Kippur (Oct 9) at sometime between 3:30 and

4:30 (depending on the pace of services), there will be a special

talk and discussion by Aaron Gross, PETA consultant and Farm Forward

[http://www.farmforward.com] Executive Vice President. Gross is an

expert on the problems with animal and worker abuse at

AgriProcessors, the world's largest kosher slaughterhouse, which has

recently been the subject of multiple PETA cruelty investigations

[http://www.goveg.com/feat/agriprocessors]. Gross holds degrees in

theology and the study of religion from Harvard University and the

University of California Santa Barbara and will discuss themes of

repentance and compassion for animals in light of current animal

protection issues facing Californians.
