Guest guest
This post may help some vendors and non-profits spread the word about their wares. As a member and a volunteer with the San Francisco Vegetarian Society, I have been at some fairs and festivals that are not veg in focus, but have proven to be veg friendly. BELOW is a list of some fairs and festivals that are veg friendly but not veg focused. We can support these fests, and if you are a vendor, show your wares at these places. Some of these fairs are only in the Bay Area and some are across the country. Even though some of the links I can provide may have info for this year only, all of these fests have been around for years. New Living Expo http://www.newlivingexpo.com/2008/html_files/index3.php In April. SFVS has tabled at this event for years. Check their site in a couple of months for updates on 2009. They have hundreds of vendors. The producer of this event has had a table at World Veg Fest. Renegade Craft Fair http://www.renegadecraft.com/ " Renegade Craft Fair " is in Brooklyn New York, Chicago and San Francisco. The only food at the event in San Francisco was vegan ice cream. I don't remember what type of vegan ice cream was there. Entrance free for the public - free. In Fort Mason. Juried event. San Francisco Pride https://register.sfpride.org/event/sfpride.php?title=Event+Signup Gay Pride in San Francisco. In June. SFVS has tabled there. Hundreds of vendors. Free to the public. Fillmore Jazz Festival. http://www.fillmorejazzfestival.com/ Always around July 4th. SFVS has tabled there with Flacos. Thousands and thousands of people. One of the biggest fairs in San Francisco. SFVS has tabled there. Free to the public. For two years, I saw people get in line for a free sample of what they thought was ice cream, only to find out they were lining up for soy ice cream. Everybody received their samples with smiles on their faces. Annual Expo for Independent Arts http://www.artsandmedia.net/expo/ Two weekends ago in Dolores Park. Have been going on for nine years. SFVS has tabled there. Free to the public. The Green Festival http://www.greenfestivals.org/content/view/626/281/ http://www.greenfestivals.org/ The busiest indoor fest of it's kind. In Washington, San Francisco, Seattle and Chicago. A couple of years ago, the fest was only in two locations. I have enclosed the below link, because as of this second, the Green Festival website is temporarily down. As you may know, even the sites that have the most volume can be temporarily down at any time for maintenance, etc. Please check out the above links soon. SFVS has tabled there and will be there AGAIN, next month. Last year, the food vendors that sold food were all veg. http://itsgettinghotinhere.org/2008/04/16/critical-look-at-seattles-green-festiv\ al/ SFVS has also tabled at Farmers Markets, The Jewish Community Health Fair in San Francisco, among other places. Many fests in the Bay Area and elsewhere not on list are veg friendly. The Castro, Union, and other fairs would never say no to a vendor. I am simply saying from my memory, these are all among the best. For some of you vendors, some of these fests may be the next step for you. I would love to do this list again, and have twice as many fests on this list. And basically, any almost fest can be veg friendly. Don't almost all of us love some form of vegan dogs, or vegan ice cream? I am sure that Farm Fresh to You, Flacos, Dr. Bronner's Magic Soaps, Nature's Gate, V-Dog Food, Organic Athletes, Pulmuone Wildwood, Inc, Rainbow Grocery Save a Bunny, Howard Lyman, Dan Brook, among many other SFVS friends, can add to this list. The fact that Green is in, makes almost every fest more veg friendly than in the past. And remember, for those of us old enough to remember, not that long ago, it would have taken me only two minutes to write where we could go and find veg friendly fairs and fests. If you have a passion for a particular fest, then that fair is veg friendly. If you want a list of fairs and fests that you might want to promote yourself at, let me know. Guest guest
Oops. One more. 2008 Pet Pride Day http://www.sfgov.org/site/acc_index.asp?id=67412 At the end of October in Golden Gate Park. Flacos Unique Vegetarian Mexican Food has been vending there for a number of years. They are the only place to buy food from at the fest. IDA was also there one year and gave out free soy ice cream. I call the people that organize this fest, true animal lovers. Free to the public. People friendly too. , " rojony57 " <rojony57 wrote: This post may help some vendors and non-profits spread the word about their wares.
