Pineapple Banana Ice Cream

October is a great time to raise awareness about plant-based eating…the month

kicked-off with World Farm Animals Day (October 2nd) and wraps up with World

GO VEGAN Days (October 25th – 31st). Our food choices directly relate to our

health, the planet, and the animals. Celebrate a veg diet with this

guilt-free Pineapple Banana Ice Cream and share it with others. Enjoy it now,

before the weather gets too cold!

Ingredients:

2 frozen bananas

2 cups frozen pineapple

2 cups vanilla soymilk or other nut milk

1/2 cup sugar or other

Directions:

In a high-powered blender, add all ingredients.

Blend on highest speed until there are no more chunks of frozen fruit (1-2

minutes).

Scoop into bowls, sprinkle some cinnamon on the top, and enjoy! (Note: You

can freeze it, but it becomes a little icy – it’s best eaten fresh).

Obesity & Breast Cancer

Lifestyle factors significantly affect the prognosis of breast cancer,

according to a new Italian study. Published in the International Journal of

Cancer, the study reveals that obesity can be one of the most significant

lifestyle risk factors for prognosis of breast cancer.

Researchers followed more than 1,450 women with incident invasive breast

cancer, evaluating the effect of obesity and other risk factors on breast

cancer mortality. Findings reveal that obese women with body mass index (BMI)

equal to or higher than 30 kg/m2 were 38% more likely to die from all causes

than those who had a BMI equal to or less than 25 kg/m2. Women who had both

high BMI and high waist-to-hip ratio were facing an even greater risk.

Additionally, researchers note that women who ate less fruits and vegetables

had higher mortality risks.

Inspiration

World GO VEGAN Days

Be an inspiration – Join the World GO VEGAN Days celebration! World GO VEGAN

Days is an international effort to promote a more compassionate way of eating

and living. Launched and coordinated by In Defense of Animals and co-sposored

by FARM's Meatout Mondays, this annual observance is the perfect time to educate

others about veganism and why it’s a healthy choice for people, animals, and the

environment.

Through outreach events and media, World GO VEGAN Days helps make the word

" vegan " a household term. Modern animal agriculture is cruel and violent

toward the chickens, cows, pigs and other animals used to produce meat, milk

and eggs. Help us make a difference participating in this campaign!

Here are some easy ways you can celebrate World GO VEGAN Days:

Order Vegan Starter Kits for distribution in your community.

Display information in public areas (posters and display prints can be

downloaded).

Share delicious vegan meals from our new 7 Days of Meatout Mondays page.

Give colorful handouts to family and friends.

Wear T-shirts with messages, pins, and other fun stuff; share them with

others.

Check IDA’s website for more ideas, visit www.WorldGoVeganDays.com!
