Guest guest
Hi all, Dan, thanks for sharing a positive review. Hopefully you and others will be giving Udupi reviews in the Ultimate Guide too. So far they have only 1 review and it's not a very inspiring one. It's important for new restaurants to overcome bad feedback quickly ... sometime's it's a dilemma - try the new place and risk potentially bad service/food or wait until they've smoothed out the opening jitters but waited too long and they closed (which happened with All About Herbs - I didn't rush to try it and missed out on what I hear was a really good restaurant) Udupi in UG http://bayareaveg.org/ug/display.htm?id=854 Cheers, Tammy BAV - planting the seeds of compassion and good health <http://www.bayareaveg.org>
Guest guest
Not to rub it in, but here was my review of All About Herbs.---Dan Set in the downtown Paris Café, which closes for the evenings, All About Herbs is a 14-seat, vegan Thai fusion dinner restaurant with a very friendly owner and staff. The food is consistently fresh, piquant, and delicious with delightful use of herbs that enhance the food without ever overwhelming it. As an appetizer, we shared the scrumptious Something about Apple, a “Thai style salad with red and green apple, carrot, celery, cherry tomato mixed with crusted peanut, fresh lime, plum sugar, chili and tamarind sauce”, artfully served in a red cabbage bowl. Appetizers run $7-8, soups are $5.50, and entrees $9-10. Closed on Sundays, you can bring your own alcohol in, food is available to go, and the neighborhood is dicey. This restaurant is now unfortunately closed.
Guest guest
I went to Udupi Palace on Valencia again last night to celebrate my wife's birthday and we had a wonderful time as usual - absolutely delicious food, fantastic service, reasonable prices, attractive decor yet casual setting - and it was doing a brisk business. When we arrived, we got the last table and by the time we left, there was a small line of people waiting to be seated. People also seemed to be ordering drinks and appetizers, which are big moneymakers for restaurants. How are other veg restaurants doing in the midst of this economic downturn? What are you finding? And how are other veg businesses and veg orgs doing? Any local news to report?
