Fermentation with Vanessa Barrington & Susan Fleming

Saturday, January 24, 2-4 pm

This is a Hands-on Class. You bring the vegetables you want to ferment, and

Vanessa and Susan will bring recipes for a simple kraut and a kimchi, along with

all the salts and aromatics needed. We'll also order a case or two of Full Belly

Farm cabbages to be delivered with the CSA boxes the day before, so they are

available for the class. If you want to make kimchi according to the recipe,

you'll need a head of Napa Cabbage, and for basic sauerkraut,a head of green

cabbage, but you're welcome to ferment anything you want from kale, to carrots,

to cauliflower. Bring glass jars to take home your ferments, or buy jars at the

class for about a buck each. You'll need to bring your own cutting board and

knife, because we don't sell those, but we will try to have a few loaners

available during the class. Bottom line, just come on down and ferment!

Beans with Vanessa Barrington

Saturday, February 7, 2-4 pm

This is a Demonstration Class. Vanessa will show you easy ways to include more

healthful, ecological, and delicious dried beans in your diet and help you fit

bean cooking into your lifestyle. She'll bring cooked beans and show you how to

use them as a base to create quick meals. Class includes tastes of two different

dishes from recipes in her book, Heirloom Beans, which she co-authored with

Steve Sando of Rancho Gordo. Simple bean recipes also included. Bring a small

plate and eating utensil for tasting the dishes to avoid using disposables.

Sea Vegetables with Nishanga Bliss

Saturday, February 21, 2-4 pm

This is a Demonstration class. Sea veggies are nutritional powerhouses,

delicious and easy to cook. Learn how to incorporate them into your life, and

sample some tasty dishes. Bring a small plate and eating utensil for tasting.

Heathy Food for Kids with Nishanga Bliss

Saturday, February 28, 2-4 pm
