Greetings everyone, You can help us make something different at this year's Tour d'Organics in Sebastopol. The ride is still all organic and all vegan, but this year we're committed to having ZERO WASTE. The primary waste from the event is the plates and utensils from the post-ride meal. While we have always used compostable materials, we'd like to minimize the amount of energy that goes into producing the materials needed for the event (if you haven't seen the Story of Stuff, check it out!). Also, the word from our local composting facility is that those " compostable " materials aren't " green " at all. In fact, they reject any loads of waste that contain " compostables " such as cups & utensils and send them to the landfill! Here's how you can help: BRING YOUR OWN PLATES & UTENSILS. It's pretty simple. Bring a plate or bowl, a fork and spoon, and a cup. Leave in the car while you ride. Grab them from your car after your ride. Come chow down on our scrumptious organic meal made from locally grown produce by our dedicated crew of OrganicAthlete volunteers. Then place your used dishes in a waterproof bag or container to take home and wash. It's fun that you can feel good about. If you happen to forget your eating ware, we'll be selling reusable plates and more at the event that you can take with you to future rides. Speaking of future rides, now is a good time to get registered for the Sebastopol ride. Spots are filling up more quickly than they ever have! See you in August, -Bradley Stay connected: +Discussions +Blogs +Facebook +RSS feeds OrganicAthlete | PO Box 33 | Graton, CA 95444 | info --
