Irena Salina's award-winning documentary investigates what experts label the

most important political and environmental issue of the 21st Century - The World

Water Crisis. Salina builds a case against the growing privatization of the

world's dwindling fresh water supply with an unflinching focus on politics,

pollution, human rights, and the emergence of a domineering world water cartel.

 

Ladies of the Land

Directed by Megan Thompson, 29 minutes

As small farms continue to disappear at an alarming rate, a growing number of

women are venturing into this tradition-bound, male-dominated industry and

revitalizing it from within. Laurel Gates, a Mills woman farmer who lives in

Larsen House, will do a short talk before this film.

 

For the Price of a Cup of Coffee

Directed by Hypatia Angelique Porter, 15 minutes

For the Price of a Cup of Coffee is a short environmental documentary examining

the life cycle of a paper cup and the repercussions of a society reliant on

convenience. Shot throughout the San Francisco Bay Area, including interviews

with local activists, waste experts and coffee shop owners.

 

Dance Performances by:

Deep Waters Dance Theater, " ...our daily bread " recently performed several sold

out shows at counterPULSE in San Francisco.

 

Liz Sexe, Mills Student and frequent contributor to Creek Clean-Up Days, will

perform her environmentally inspired choreography!

Youth Uprising is a not-for-profit organization, seeded and supported by Alameda

County and the City of Oakland. Youth UpRising offers a wide range of programs

and services that develop youth leadership in order to transform the community.

This youth-run full service restaurant & catering business offers you great and

affordable food as well as an intensive culinary arts training program in

partnership with Laney College.

 

Free and open to the public.
