Guest guest
Free screening of The Water Front Monday, April 27, 2009 5;30 pm Food & Water Watch, 25 Stillman Street, Suite 200, San Francisco, CA 94107. Please RSVP to Adam at ascow or call 415-293-9915. Liz Miller's documentary film The Water Front offers a sharp look at the possible risks ahead for communities looking to privatize their water supply. In spite of having a direct water intake to the Great Lakes basin and what was once the largest water plant in the world, the town of Highland Park, Michigan has had to fight a years-long battle to protect the public resource. Wenonah Hauter, executive director of Food & Water Watch says, " As regular people pay more and more for their water without ever seeing an improvement, the question of who controls their water - and how - is ever more relevant. " The Water Front will show citizens who face similar problems that they are not alone, and will inspire people to organize, taking control of local water back into local hands. Join the Food & Water Watch for a screening of The Water Front and learn about its current campaign to protect water as a public resource!
