What People Are Saying

Truly, there is nothing more gratifying than hearing from people who have been

affected by Compassionate Cooks -

whether it be the classes, cookbook, essays, or podcast. Here are some recent

replies from people all over the

world. Feel free to drop us a line.

FINDING PURPOSE " I want to tell you 'thank you' from the bottom of my heart for

your podcast and other works and your cause. I actually came across the podcast

not long ago via itunes not looking for anything in particular. It's hands down

the best thing I have downloaded on itunes! I recently embraced a vegetarian

lifestyle and quickly became vegan thanks in most to your podcast. When I began

listening, I laughed, cried and felt an overwhelming sense of peace...I know

this sounds kind of corny but it's true - and I realized for the first time in

my life what my purpose was for myself and what I wanted to do while I was here

on this earth. Thank you again for your time and everything you do. "

FINDING NOURISHMENT " I'd just like to thank you, of course, for being so

fabulous and incredibly inspiring. Your words nourish my soul and enable me to

be a better vegan. I use your

'joyful vegan' catch phrase all the time because it's such a perfect way to

describe this lifestyle. Thank you...a million times thank you!!! "

ALTERING PERCEPTIONS " I just wanted to simply say, thank you! I know you've

heard it a million times but it bears repeating. I found your podcast on

accident after having received my first ipod as a gift and it has completely

changed my life and altered my perceptions. I was a non vegetarian and after

listening to one podcast made the decision to become vegetarian. Although I'm

not vegan I'm slowly working towards it. I feel so much more at peace, my health

has never been better, my skin has cleared up and now this week I'm dog watching

my sister's pooch while she's away and for once I can look her in the eyes and

not feel like a hypocrite. I'm deeply grateful for everything you do. "

DOWN WITH FEATHERS

The campaign against " plumaged headwear " was one of the most successful in the

early animal advocacy movement in the United States, ultimately creating

legislative protection for birds and a cultural shift in terms of how the public

viewed feathered hats. A once-coveted fashion item became the symbol of cruelty

and selfishness as the result of a boycott against it. Today, feathers and down

- cruelly-begotten products of an incredibly lucrative industry - show up

stuffed in our comforters and puffed up in our coats. Though geese and ducks are

the primary victims, ostriches, too, suffer immense pain and distress as the

result of humans taking their soft down and colorful plumes.
