Guest guest
I'm planning on showing videos in public using a portable stand and TV at Sunday's KFC protest. Everything I can find online (such as the ACLU's guide http://www.urbandisciples.org/resources/sjuu/demonstrate.pdf) says tabling, etc. is legal on public property as long as you're not blocking traffic. However, I called the S.F. Dept. of Public Works and they said I have to apply for a permit @ $60/day and have liability insurance. I can't find any such requirement in the municipal code. Does anyone have experience with public tabling/video displays in San Francisco? Please let me know what your understanding is of the laws. Guest guest
I suggest that you at least make the "authorities" confront you as you exercise your Constitutional right to Freedom of Speech. Code Pink was told they couldn't march across the GG Bridge because it is "private property"....:>P "The state can't give you freedom, and the state can't take it away. Freedom is something you're born with, and then one day someone tries to deny it. The extent to which you resist is the extent to which you are free."
