Guest guest
As you may have heard, we are doing the second annual Vegan Galaxy Expeditionary Festival in July. I have reserved a week (July 18 - 24) at a timeshare at June Lake, CA. The idea is that people can visit for whichever days/nights during that week that they want. During the days there may be opportunities for hiking and the like. Weather permitting, we'll be doing astronomy 9:30pm - 12:15am each night for the 6 nights (July 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23). This means that in addition to enjoying wonderful unaided eye views of the universe, it is likely that we can show y'all 25 - 30 remarkable objects each night through a powerful telescope, for a total of perhaps 180 objects over the 6 nights of the festival. This year, we'll do our observing from a site not far from the hotels. While the sky there will not be ideally dark - June Lake has a light pollution problem, too - it will be dark enough to get a far better view of dozens of amazing galaxies, nebulae, star clusters, etc. than one can find in the Bay Area. Plus there will be easy access to food, restrooms, etc. and no hassle driving out to a remote observing site each night. We might schedule one " cosmic night " where we do actually drive out toward Nevada just so people can see what a truly dark sky looks like. As for food, we'll buy food in town and cook our own yummy vegan meals. The time to get hotel reservations, carpools, etc. arranged is rapidly approaching. So if you want to join the fun, please email me by May 28 with the following information: Your Name Your phone # & email address Whether you can drive a carpool and how may people can ride in your car What day you want to arrive and what day you want to leave
