Well, just a little something we like to call the DIY luau, the ultimate sundae, and the VN guide to starting your own vegan business. Oh, and maybe all the fancy-pants tartares and carpaccios your summer soirée guests could ever want. Are you into this whole Twitter thing? Take a look at how Web 2.0 is shaping the future of vegetarianism, and how you can make real change online. Yes, by " online " we mean " from your poolside, wifi-enabled hammock. " Dog days indeed!  VegWeb.com and VegNews Unite! The VegNews team couldn't be more excited to announce that just this week, we have acquired the world's largest vegan recipe community website, VegWeb.com. Thirteen years ago, before any of us were permanently attached to our computers or had imagined that we’d one day be “tweeting,†VegWeb.com founder Yvette Ehler made a bold technological move for vegetarians around the globe by starting the now-beloved website. After single-handedly administrating the recipe-packed site ever since, today VegWeb.com boasts 103,825 members, 237,885 posts, and 11,662 recipes. Check out VegWeb.com for interesting forums, delicious vegan recipes, and tons of tantalizing food photos. User beware: browsing the site is nearly guaranteed to ignite hunger. We welcome the VegWeb.com community to the VegNews family!  V in the News Abused Animals, Abused Workers It's painfully clear that the force-feeding of geese and ducks in order to fatten their livers to produce foie gras is cruel and unnecessary, but what about the people holding the feeding tubes? A recent New York Times op-ed shows that our feathered friends aren't the only victims of this gruesome practice. Workers at Hudson Valley Foie Gras in New York routinely have to work for 22 consecutive days without paid overtime or time off in unsanitary conditions. Keeping foie gras off our plates is a compassionate move for both human and non-human animals. Beautiful Buses Well, OK, " beautiful " might be something of an overstatement, but for residents of New York City and Toronto, taking public transportation just became an educational experience. Animal-activist group Mercy For Animals recently launched campaigns in both cities that feature pro-veg ads on transit vehicles. Saturating such heavily populated metropolitan areas with a compassionate message is a sure-fire way to raise awareness for the animals.  VN.com Roundup!
