July 2009

Dear Neil,

Welcome to the July issue of E-PEACE!

We wish to thank everyone who supported our Vegan Bake Sale during the 1st

annual  " Worldwide Vegan Bake Sale Week " last month!  This was our biggest bake

sale yet and we raised funds for our friends at the Peaceful Prairie Farm Animal

Sanctuary.  A report will be issued soon, along with our Spring Outreach recap.

This month, as Americans celebrate Independence Day, we hope others will

acknowledge that the right to freedom and peace should belong to ALL living

beings.  July is also " National Veggie Hot Dog Month " , so it's a great time to

introduce others to non-violent foods during Compassion Over Killing's (COK) 4th

annual outreach campaign.

We hope you are inspired to put compassion into action by going VEG for

life. There are literally billions of reasons to do so!  Remember that every

meal is a declaration of independence!

 For a compassionate world,

Your Society of PEACE E-Newsletter Team

Action Alerts

Take Action for Animals

Ask your Congressional Representative and Senators to extend the ban on torture

to include Animals used in military trauma-training exercises! (From People for

the Ethical Treatment of Animals - PETA.com) Thousands of live animals are shot,

stabbed, dismembered, burned, and poisoned every year in Department of

Defense (DoD) training exercises designed to train medics and infantry in how

to treat various human battlefield injuries. Sign PETA's online form asking

President Obama to issue an executive order requiring the DoD to replace animals

with non-animal methods.

Join international animal welfare organizations in urging China to ban the live

skinning of cats & dogs for meat and fur (From StopLiveSkinning.wordpress.com)

Millions of cats and dogs in China are bred in inhumane conditions and sold to

markets for their meat, or skinned (sometimes not completely unconscious) for

their fur. The methods at which these animals are slaughtered are cruel and must

be stopped immediately. Many international animal

welfare organizations and humane societies have joined together in protest

against the live skinning of animals for fur.  Sign the online petition urging

China to ban this barbaric industry.
