Let Ringling Bros. Circus Know It's Not Welcome in the Bay Area

In case you haven't already heard the exciting news, please check out PETA's

newly released undercover investigation of the Ringling Bros. and Barnum &

Bailey Circus at http://www.ringlingbeatsanimals.com/.

 

During this investigation—which spanned several months and numerous

states—PETA's investigator documented routine abuse of elephants and tigers at

the hands of Ringling workers. One of the implements used by Ringling employees

to beat, yank, and torment elephants is a bullhook—a heavy, hard-handled device

with a sharp, steel hook at one end that resembles a fireplace poker.

 

Using evidence uncovered in this investigation, PETA has filed formal complaints

with the federal government asserting violations of both the Animal Welfare Act

and the Endangered Species Act as well as calling for the government to seize

the 11 elephants currently used by Ringling's Red Unit. Criminal complaints

alleging violations of state anti-cruelty statutes were filed in seven states.

 

This investigation has broken just in time for us to put the pressure on

Ringling Bros. while performing at Oracle Arena and the HP Pavilion this month.
