To Kim and Dwayne - thank you, I have never had such a wonderful compliment.

Apart from Steve I have NEVER found such acceptance and support as since I

became involved in the veg*an/animals rights community. If it's not too

late I think my sanity might just have been saved.

Love

i have wanted fame is so that i can help to educate the world

>about the rights of animals as well as people

>can you imagine a rocker using their fame for good not evil

I think that is a wonderful dream. Have you seen Moby's CD 'Play'? He has

several essays about peace, veganism, etc. on the CD cover. A meat eating

coworker bought the CD for the music and read the essays, then he bought a

CD for me since he knew I'd be interested. It was good for him to see that

my husband and I are not the only vegans out there.

Regarding meat on TV...we decided to 'kill' our TV when we moved from the

DC area last October. We don't get any stations (I do miss PBS), but we

still use it for playing movies. It is wonderful! My father (meat eater)

even mentioned how many meat ads he sees in a day...it is actually starting

to get to him. My husband and I read books and listen to NPR a lot more

now since there is no TV distraction. I just worry about my son, he's

already going to be 'different' because he's raised vegan and he has a

congenital heart defect...now he won't know anything about pop culture with

no TV. He's only 5 mo. so I have time before I need to worry about him at

school. Who knows maybe the world will become more peaceful and vegan in

the next 5 years.

OMG...

I accidentally drove from Aberdeen up to Forks, trying to get back to

Silverdale!

Every time I hear the name of that little town I have horrible

flashbacks. ;)

Hi!

I grew up in Forks. My dh (dear husband) has quit his job as of the end of

June so he can devote at least til the end of the year to an overseas medical

project we have going, so while he is not working, we get to live in the

neighborhood I grew up in in the country on almost 3 acres, near my family

and on a creek. I want my kids to experience the country, play in the creek,

go to the unspoiled and uncrowded beaches, and play in the woods. I know it

rains a lot, but a lot of how you feel depends on the internal climate, not

so much on the external. At least that is what I have found in my life,

although a bright sunny day certainly can help to lift the spirits! After

either December or March, after we come back from Peru, where we plan to be

for 3-6 months we will look for another job for my husband and settle down

somewhere in Western Washington, but almost for sure not in Forks, because of

the job situation for my husband. Long answer to a short question. Have you

been to Forks?

Hi Kristina!

You really got lost going from Aberdeen to Forks trying to go to Silverdale!

It is a long, lonely drive from Aberdeen to Forks. I hope you can visit it

again under happier circumstances---maybe the 4th of July when there is

usually a 3 day celebration, or maybe to visit the beach or the rainforest.

Lots of things to see and do there, just not when you are lost or trying to

find someplace else!

I live and work in Port Angeles :^) My husband works in Sequim. I think if I

had the choice, I would live closer to Sequim for the sun!!

Most of the time that's true, but this year has been a bit odd. It rains in Sequim and not in PA. Of course, that won't last long.

Dear Wendy:

I was born in Olympic Memorial Hospital and grew up in Forks. My family came

to PA in the 1890s and some still live there. If I could live wherever I

wanted to in the world, I would live between PA and Sequim---maybe by the

strait!! I am looking forward to being around there this summer and hope to

be able to do some geneology research----just an interest that I have

recently come by. Enjoy the green! I have found that you don't enjoy the

beauty until you have been for a while where it is hot and dry and brown (and

smoggy sometimes). Even now, at 41, when I go there I feel like running in

the crisp clean air.

Dear Kristina,

I believe it! The sunshine in Sequim, surrounded by all the beautiful green

and the strait, is much of what makes it such a beautiful place to live.

Hi Jessica,

My husband was born & raised here--along with nine siblings!! He

is the only one still here. We do think about moving away, but

leaving the Olympics and the water would be hard for us.

I hope you have a very safe trip on your way home to the peninsula

:^)
