Guest guest
The owner of Whole Foods Market, Inc., John Mackey, in another editorial in the WSJ again this past weekend, repeated what he said a couple of months ago. A whole foods plant-based diet low in fat will permit a person to live well into their nineties and beyond free of disease and very healthy. Such a diet, he said, would also REVERSE many common diseases including cancer, heart disease, obesity, type 2 diabetes, Alzheimer's, etc. The tragic fact, however, is that the meat, dairy, and poultry industries largely control the mind-set of the American public with their extensive saturation of the media. Even most medical doctors are unaware of the vital role of whole foods in preventing disease. Thus, when one attempts, mostly unsuccessfully, to go against this barrage of misinformation, one is too often treated with, at best, amusement, but mostly, ridicule and scorn. It's tragic to watch loved ones suffer from needless, preventable (but reverseable) disease. The healthcare debate of recent months is largely FOLLY if we don't address the root cause of the obscene expenses associated with misinformed and poor dietary choices. robert martin
