Guest guest
EVENT: Anna Thomas' Love Soup DATE: Oct. 13, 2009 (Tues.) TIME: 7:30 pm PLACE: Books Inc. in the Marina, 2251 Chestnut Street, SF Anna Thomas discusses Love Soup, a collection of delicious recipes for vegetarian soups. http://www.booksinc.net/event/anna-thomas Anna Thomas: A lot of people are intimidated by the idea of going into the kitchen and cooking something for themselves. What a shame! Fresh food made from good seasonal ingredients is the most delicious way to eat, and also good for you. Yet people think they need some kind of special training to cook. Well, perhaps if you want to make crème brûlée. But soup is so easy, so friendly, so forgiving. If you start with a simple recipe-an old fashioned split pea soup, a rustic leek and potato soup, or a summer tomato and basil soup-its hard to go wrong. Ingredients are simple, equipment is utterly basic, and it doesnt take a whole lot of work. Anyone can do it. Really. So its a great way to enter the world of home cooking. And once youve made a wonderful pot of soup and youre having a quick, cozy meal at home just by adding a loaf of good bread or a salad, the next thing you know youre inviting a friend over. http://www.forewordmagazine.net/articles/shw_article.aspx?articleid=
