THIS MONDAY AT NOON -

PROTEST KPFA CENSORSHIP OF VEGAN, ANIMAL RIGHTS, AND ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES - AND

KPFA's IRRESPONSIBLE AND DANGEROUS PROMOTION OF ANTI-VEGAN PROPAGANDA

Bob Linden

For many years, peace and social justice activists have been frustrated by KPFA

/ Berkeley and KPFK / Los Angeles, the Pacifica Foundation's west coast

progressive non-commercial listener-supported radio stations, and their

exclusion of vegan, animal rights, and environmental programs and subject

matter, which is in itself a violation of Pacifica's mission statement of

dedication to peace, giving voice to the voiceless, and alleviating the

suffering of the oppressed.

Although many have approached these stations in the past, including experienced

professional broadcasters, among them Bob Linden, who has even produced and

hosted a vegan, animal rights radio show (GO VEGAN WITH BOB LINDEN /

www.GoVeganRadio.com) for 9 years that has been broadcast everywhere from right

wing conservative radio stations, to the progressive Air America network, and

can now be heard on GREEN 960 in the San Francisco Bay Area.

" KPFA has been depriving its audience of life-saving, planet-saving information.

Within vegan issues are the solutions to all local and global problems raised on

KPFK - war, violence, world hunger, free speech and constitutional rights'

violations, poverty, disease, raceism, sexism, resource depletion, energy

crises, global warming. Doesn't the KPFA audience deserve to hear about how its

family can avoid heart disease, cancer, stroke, diabetes, obesity - fully 90 per

cent of disease. KPFA excludes this from any valuable health care discussion " ,

said Linden.

And now, activists think that KPFA has gone over the top in betrayal of the

public by offering an anti-vegan book as a fund-drive premium.

" This is so outrageous. KPFA chooses to ignore that meat and dairy are

destroying our planet - causing global warming more than anything else, causing

more deaths of Americans than anything else, causing the most egregious

suffering and mass murder of billions of innocent animals than anything else -

and then, instead, KPFA decides to give away a ludicrous book - whose pages are

more suited for toilet paper than reading - promoting meat and dairy to its

audience. Does KPFA understand the racial bias in endorsing dairy products for

its audience, the health, environmental, and moral ramifications of such an

endorsement? We are witnessing the dumbing down of KPFA, censorship of the

truth, and a betrayal of our trust " , said longtime Bay Area activist Alfredo

Kuba, one of the protest's organizers.

KPFA should be better than that. We need to help make KPFA better by demanding

vegan, animal rights, environmental programming - NOW!!!

So - It's PEACEFUL PROTEST TIME -

12 noon - 3pm THIS MONDAY november 2

at KPFA

1929 Martin Luther King Jr Way, Berkeley

Ironically, seven years ago , a group of Texans was listening to GO VEGAN WITH

BOB LINDEN and became inspired to approach the Houston Pacifica outlet, KPFT,

asking for airtime to create a vegan program. Permission granted - and now Vegan

World Radio is one of the most popular programs on KPFT and is a high performer

during pledge drives. Bob Linden was the program's first guest and co-hosts

frequently. Ironically on the week that Bob is helping to organize a protest

against KPFA, he will co-host VEGAN WORLD RADIO on KPFT in Houston during its

fund drive. You can hear that program Wednesday November 4th at 8PM pacific

time at www.kpft.org. Houston broadcasts animal rights programming - but not

Berkeley or LA? Commercial AM radio stations run animal rights programs - but

not KPFA or KPFK? Shame!!!
