Write Up of Laguna Lodge, Veggie Eco Resort in Guatemala

 

I had the privilege of staying 5 nights at a 5 star eco vegetarian

resort on January of 2010.

 

Laguna Lodge Eco-Resort and Nature Reserve is located near Santa Cruz

La Laguna on the northern shore of Lake

Atitlan in Guatemala. Last year, it received a Conte

Naste’s 5 star rating.

 

The owners are Maya and Jeffrey. They are 28 and 14 years vegetarians,

respectively.

 

Maya is a vegetarian after seeing the horrific site of an animal being

hunted down in Africa. Jeffrey became a

vegetarian due to environmental and many, many other valid reasons.

 

Laguna Lodge is a high class resort that includes a full vegetarian

restaurant. With advance notice the Chefs can even make your meals vegan

or even raw.

 

This is a very special place with full of romance and wonder.

When you wake up each morning you get spectacular views over Lake Atitlan

and the volcanoes San Pedro, Atitlan and

Toliman. The best part about it, you can see the ENTIRE view while

still lying in bed! In the morning you are awaken by the morning

sunrise. You just stay in bed and the sun will perform its magic display

for you.

 

It’s very magical to be there. To me it’s like

being in a mini-adult castle with lots of local Mayan arts.

 

Laguna Lodge is made from indigenous

materials; adobe, volcanic stone and wood, creating a rustic but luxurious chic

retreat. Definitely a great place for a special vacation or

honeymoon. I’ll definitely come back for my honeymoon. However, I have

to find a “honey” first!

 

 

To Sum it up..

 

 

Time magazine described Laguna Lodge as

" pure Maya magic " .
