Susanne Jensen, a native of Denmark, has been teaching macrobiotic cooking in Australia, Europe, and the U.S. for 25 years. She is a graduate of the Kushi Institute in Boston where she taught for years. She has been a cooking instructor for College of Marin, the Macrobiotic Learning Center in Oakland and Lawrence Livermore Laboratory. Since 1999 she has been teaching cooking at Willard Middle School in Berkeley. For the past 9 summers she has been head chef at French Meadows Macrobiotic Summer Camp. Barbara Johnston-Brown, a California native, studied and worked as a Critical Care Nurse for 15 years, then a pastry chef, caterer, and home gardener expanding her knowledge of disease and healing with eastern philosophy as well as alternative modalities. In 2005 she successfully dealt with breast cancer, having lost one sister to the same disease and another sister continuously struggling utilizing conventional means of treatment for this disease. For several years now, Barbara has relied upon a vegan macrobiotic lifestyle, growing her own organic garden while recapturing her robust healthy life and sharing this information to all.
