Guest guest
Hello fellow animal lovers, ATTENTION! The San Francisco No-Kill movement is losing momentum due to recent lack of representation at Animal Welfare Commission meetings. Please gather your friends and colleagues and anyone else who cares about San Francisco animals, and come to the meeting TONIGHT (Thursday, 3/11) at 5:30 pm in room 408 at City Hall to let the AWC members know that we want San Francisco to be a no-kill city! The No Kill issue is NOT on the agenda for tonight's meeting, which means that we must make our comments about no-kill during one of the PUBLIC COMMENTS periods -- either item 2 on the agenda (right after roll call, OR item 6 on the agenda. (see agenda below) It's preferable if people can show up at the beginning of the meeting (within the first hour) for the first public comments period, but if you can't, feel free to show up toward the end, for public comment Item 6. San Francisco is SO close to achieving No-Kill. Let's make sure it happens! San Francisco animals need YOUR help. We hope to see you there! THANK YOU! Approval of Draft Minutes from the February 11, 2010 Meeting [Discussion/Action Item] 4. Chairperson’s report and opening remarks [Discussion Item] A) Report from Joint Zoo Committee 5. New Business A) Discussion and Possible Action to inform the goat companies that operate in San Francisco about fencing practices that impact wildlife and feral cats by including this information in contracts, or by other methods. Goats are frequently used by city departments (such as the Recreation and Park and the SFPUC) to eat and therefore clear unwanted vegetation on their property. Letters about fencing practices will be sent to the Office of Contract Administration, Recreation and Park Department, Port of San Francisco, SFPUC and possibly also to other parties if we find they use fenced goats on their property. In addition, it would help Animal Care and Control to know, in advance, when goats are going to be used, and therefore, ACC should be a signatory on any goat contracts. A draft letter is attached. [Discussion/Action] [Commissioner Hemphill and Commissioner Routhier] 6.
