Guest guest
I'm not surprised by this. The attitude towards turtles out here is that the more you can run over, the better the world is. I watched in horror several days ago as a truck swerved to hit a turtle crossing the road. It was what I'd call a " snapper " back north, but don't know the real species is (sorry guys, I have a lot to learn from you.) The turtle ricocheted and hit the side of my car before coming to rest upside down along the road. I'm told that the road kill game is the same for armadillos and dogs. I had a man inform me that dogs, armadillos and turtles were the " roaches " of Texas. He actually put dead sheep in his field and shot all dogs that came up because of the smell. I could go on, but why depress anybody more than I have???? I hope legislation is passed to protect all animals. I forgot to mention that I live very close to the horse slaughterhouse in Kaufman, TX. My sister in law runs a horse rescue and I have 5 rescues here. It's kinda hard to stay positive, but we have lots of people like you guys fighting. One day we'll win. > I came across this article about turtle trapping in Texas > http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/outdoors/tompkins/4535507.html > > Barbara > www.veggiechild.com > >
