Guest guest
With Easter fast approaching, please keep a watch for stores and individuals who sell baby animals for Easter presents. If you see such a display, speak to the store manager and politely, but emphatically object to the selling of life and the stress it places on babies to be on display and away from their mothers. Ask that the babies be removed and placed in a quiet and safe place several times a day or given to animal control or a rescue organization. Go back every day and make sure it is done. If you remain polite and persuasive, you will prevail. Also, contact the corporate office of the store. If you see a sick or injured animal or the babies are without food and water, call animal control and your local humane society and place a complaint. Politely insist that animal control immediately send an officer to visit the premises to investigate and tell them you will wait for them to arrive. Remember to get the name of with whom you speak and if you don't get agreement to comply with your urgent request, ask to speak to the supervisor and the mayor, if needed, to get action. The Humane Society of the US for DFW's telephone is: 1 817 492 8000. Call directory assistance or check the phone book for the closest municiiple animal control telephone number. Keep these numbers in your wallet for quick reference. Remember, you are the only advocate these helpless babies have so remain calm and persistent and clearly state your goal. Also, letters to the editor are always a good way to draw attention to the heinous practice of selling life. Please take a minute or two to write one today.
