Guest guest
My Friends, Never for one moment forget that the vast majority of " meat " does not come from animals, who have lived roaming free in fields. In honor of Easter, please consider these thoughts. Margaret " Animals, too, are God's creatures ...Degrading [them] to a commodity seems to me in fact to contradict the relationship of mutuality that comes across in the Bible. " - Pope Benedict XVI And, while I do not flatter myself to be anywhere near the level of wisdom as Benedict, may I offer my own small contribution to this discourse. " Every year, billions of sentient beings are confined, under the most cruel of conditions, in factory farms that deny them the realization of even the most basic elements of their true nature and utterly wastes their lives... Farmed animals are objectified as cogs in the wheel of production and forced to eke out a miserable and lonely existence until they die, usually in terror, just so humans can enjoy eating their flesh. We think this is incontrovertibly wrong. Humans must stand up for animals...Animals are at the mercy of humankind. As such, we must be the voice for the suffering voiceless, even when it is inconvenient for us to do so. " - Vegetarian Network of Dallas website, home page Lastly, please always... " Think occasionally of the suffering of which you spare yourself the sight. " ~Albert Schweitzer
