Guest guest
Action Alert: 2007 Dallas March of Dimes (MOD) WalkAmerica Educational Demonstration Please join the growing coalition of regional and national sponsors for our educational demonstration at the MOD WalkAmerica event in Dallas on April 21, 2007. This year’s local sponsors include North Texas Animal Rights Network, Vegetarian Network of Dallas, and Animal Connection of Texas. Major support is provided by the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM), including educational materials, a dedicated website, a mobile billboard and publicity. Learn more about the campaign to reform the MOD by halting cruel and irrelevant animal research by visiting these websites: www.reformthemarchofdimes.org and www.marchofcrimes.org. WHAT: March of Dimes WalkAmerica educational demonstration. WHEN: Saturday, April 21, 2007 from 8 AM to 11 AM (or any part you can attend). WHY: MOD spends about $30 million annually on cruel, repetitive and irrelevant animal experiments that have not produced benefits to babies and mothers. Meanwhile, the U.S. sinks lower and lower in world rankings for premature births, birth defects, newborn and infant mortality, and maternal mortality – shamefully near the bottom of industrialized nations. We are asking MOD to redirect this wasteful and inhumane funding to human-based research and programs proven to improve the health of babies and mothers. WHERE: Norbuck Park at White Rock Lake. The map address is 2000 N. Buckner Blvd., Dallas, 75218. Here are directions from the intersection of U.S. Highway 75 (N. Central Expressway) and Mockingbird Ln. 1) Take the Mockingbird Ln. exit (Exit 3) from U.S. Highway 75, and turn east on Mockingbird Ln. 2) Travel east on Mockingbird Ln. for 4 miles, crossing Greenville Ave., Skillman St., Abrams Rd., Hillside Dr. and Williamson Dr. until reaching the intersection of Mockingbird Ln. and N. Buckner Blvd. 3) Just past the double set of traffic lights at N. Buckner Blvd., turn right onto Peavy Rd. 4) Park anywhere on the residential streets in this area, and walk back to the N. Buckner Blvd. access road. Look to your right (north) and you will see Norbuck Park on the right and an overpass on the left; we will gather at the overpass. There will be a crowd and parked buses, so don’t worry about getting lost! Event day contacts: John Pippin, M.D. (cell: 972-523-4404) Susan Oakey (cell: 214-577-6727) Mark your calendars and please don’t forget! This is the major annual MOD fundraiser, and our opportunity to open the eyes and hearts of MOD supporters. There is strength in numbers, so let’s get their attention.
