Tainted food remains on the shelves because the recall is VOLUNTARY. If you think we are making progress - WRONG - It is still going to get worse. The Senate passed a bill last week, which is so worthless it looks as if it was drafted by Menu Foods and it does NOTHING to protect our pets and provide safe food. I participated in drafting legislation that went to Senator Durbin, head of the committee, and it all got slashed and tossed in the trash.

We are NEVER going to move forward on this problem until Washington takes us seriously. Do you know that that pet bill passed unanimously last week and hardly anyone showed up. We were lied to and promised more and extending hearings in Washington before the bill went to a vote. We got screwed. When have you ever known 96 senators to agree on anything. Not one single senator ever challenged or questioned the bill to see if it could be made better. And you can bet senators voted yes that never even read the bill. In other words, it is politics as usual, and I for one am fed up. WE HAVE TO STAND UP AND BE A VOICE FOR OUR PETS NOW AND THIS IS HOW YOU HELP. And don't we all know how true this is after Katrina. These pet food companies pump us full of their fraudulent commercials saying because our pets are so special love of our life family members, we need to buy THEIR FOOD. But let our pets get sick and die on THEIR FOOD, and you find they will tell us in a heartbeat our pets are mere property like our TV sets and have only the value of the price we paid to get them.
