Guest guest
I wrote a LTE to the Fort Worth Star Telegram today (below) regarding the Op-Ed in the attached link. I hope at least a few will dash off a couple of lines, as well. Let's show the FWST that animal advocacy is alive and well in Texas! Thanks. Margaret http://www.star-telegram.com/245/story/103602.html ******************************* I read " Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness for apes? " by Jonathan Balcombe with considerable interest. It was refreshing to see our local FWST publish an Op-Ed with cutting-edge thought. A truly ethical society would consider it unconscionable to relegate feeling sentients to suffer a lifetime of incarceration and abuse in a gulag of research labs, circuses, and roadside exhibitions with no recourse or legal protection. We do not treat the worst criminals, who ever lived, this cruelly. Why should humans feel free to so treat innocents, who never committed any crime? The fact that we do requires that we ask what it says about us, as a species and as a nation. Soul-searching and a good deal of change are in order. " All that is necessary for evil to succeed is for good men to do nothing. " ?
