2007 CIRCUS DEMONSTRATION & EDUCATIONAL LEAFLETING What: Vegetarian Network of Dallas and ACT have teamed to conduct a peaceful circus demonstration and educational leafleting. We will hold signs and distribute informational leaflets to circus-goers and passersby. Where: Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus,

American Airlines Center, 2500 Victory Avenue, Dallas, Texas. We will meet on the AAC's North Entrance side (see free parking suggestions below). IMPORTANT: Look for us leafleting among the crowd. Why: To expose circuses as public exhibitions of animal cruelty. Animals do not naturally ride bicycles, stand on their heads, balance on balls, or jump through rings of fire. To force them to perform these confusing and physically uncomfortable tricks, trainers

use whips, tight collars, muzzles, electric prods, bullhooks, and other painful tools of the trade. Behind the scenes, elephant trainer Tim Frisco instructs would-be trainers how to dominate elephants and make them perform circus tricks. “Sink that hook into ’em. When you hear that screaming, then you know you got their attention.” An elephant trumpets in agony as Frisco’s bull hook, with its sharp metal hook and spiked end, tears through her sensitive skin. When: August 1 - August 12 (we will demonstrate/ leaflet on these dates and times in Dallas at the AA Center, where the circus is being held) Wednesday, August 1 Educational Protest 6:30 – 7:30 PM Friday, August 3 Educational Protest 6:30 – 7:30 PM Saturday, August 4 Educational Protest 10:30-11:30 AM Educational

Periods of transport are high risk times for the animals to be abused. But, the handlers are unlikely to abuse in front of many witnesses. Join the walk and help protect the elephants. For questions or to give us advance notice that you will join us to speak for the animals,
