I urge you to visit the Care2.com site using the links below and take action today. Will EastonManager, ActForChange.com/Working Assets Help Stop Aerial Gunning Aerial gunning of wolves to artificially boost game populations is brutal, inhumane and unnecessary. Urge your representative to support legislation to stop this horrible practice! Tell Congress: End Aerial Gunning of Wolves Aerial gunners have killed over 600 wolves in Alaska since 2003, and now Governor Sarah Palin wants to offer $150 bounties to encourage hunters to kill more wolves. Even worse, Idaho and Wyoming have proposed aerial gunning programs of their own, meaning that soon the wolves of Yellowstone could be gunned down from airplanes if they leave the safety of the park. Congress needs to act - urge your representative to co-sponsor new legislation to end aerial gunning now! Under Alaska's cruel aerial gunning policy, marksmen can shoot wolves from the air or use airplanes to chase them in deep snow to the point of exhaustion then land and execute them at point blank range. It's time to end this brutal practice. Representative George Miller (D-CA) will be introducing legislation in September to do just that - his bill would close a loophole in the Federal Airborne Hunting Act to prohibit aerial gunning. Click here to send a message to your representative and ask them to co-sponsor Rep. Miller's bill to end aerial gunning. Now is the time for Congress to act – before the snow begins to fall and wolves face another deadly winter. Please take action today. Guest guest
I grew up in Alaska and have been fighting to save Alaska's wolves since 1989. Thought I should share that the Alaskan state legislature has overturned its voters three times, who consistently vote against the aerial hunting of wolves and the hunting of wolves via snowmachines until they are too exhausted to run. There is no justice in Alaska so the fight continues. I want to go home... --Michelle Upchurch Margaret Morin <dogs_good To: VNOD Fwd: Fw: Tell Congress: End Aerial Gunning of WolvesSun, 12 Aug 2007 11:30:25 -0700 (PDT) From our good friend, Robin Sowton, at Dallas Greenzine.
