My response to the spin letter I got from NIH/ICCVAM

Please write to and demand a real response. They have GOT to get with it and stop animal testing! Oh, and I misspelled the abbreviation - it's ICCVAM. Whoops. Ms. Snyder, The spin letter I got, with mostly 50 cent words you think the general public won't understand and the "open to the public" policy that most will not understand frankly insults the public and angered me. I am going to call, write and fax until I get a response from a REAL person, not a computer generated response from a PR specialist. The simple fact is in my opinion, that the effective models are cheaper to use, therefore the facilities who needlessly use vivisection as tests for medicine won't be granted the hundreds of millions

of dollars each year for this purpose. It all comes down to greed, not human health. If agencies, such as the NIH and FDA really cared about human health, our food and current medications would be safe, yet there are constantly recalls for potential disease and risk of death. How many recalls of medications that kill or cause serious/fatal illness tested fine on animals have to be recalled? How many more blanket lawsuits does there have to be to adopt HUMAN alternatives for testing? Vioxx tested safe in dogs but killed and/or hospitalized over tens of thousands of people. Splenda killed the animals it was tested on and went to the market. This isn't science, it's an abomination and abuse of not only helpless animals, but helpless humans who depend on agencies such as the NIH and FDA for our safety. The ICCVAM has seems to have needed "further evaluation and review" to numerous alternatives since the year 2000. They considered this "reviewing" of alternatives due to pressure from PeTA to begin with, to pacify them. It's not working. It's not just PeTA who wants this alternative testing, but many companies, millions of animal advocates and even real scientists actually interested in doing their job of safely and effectively treating people with speedy progress more than receiving millions of dollars of grants to play cruel and useless games with innocent, defenseless animals, mostly dogs and primates. How can you defend this for a living and sleep at night? I, along with others who have

actually taken the TIME to write you deserve and demand more than a canned letter sent by the click of a mouse. Pardon the pun. I have heard of no adverse reactions/conditions or fatalities in the humans treated with medicines tested on alternative models representing humans, especially involving human tissue. If you have documented proof of such, please forward to me. Please do not tell me you have no access to the records. You do. Thank you for your time, I expect to hear from you after consulting with Dr. David Schwartz or even better, Dr. Schwartz himself.
