Guest guest
I just discovered that I'm pregnant and I started a for vegan pregnancy. Could you please, anyone, everyone, help spread the word. I still haven't read much on vegan pregnancy other than the short bits in BECOMING VEGAN. I can't find books on vegan pregnancy, and many of the articles I've read online have said that people take up eating eggs or should during pregnancy. I really really don't want to do that. Here's the address of the group: http://health.VEGPREG/ Also, if you have had a vegan pregnany, I'd appreciate any information you have. Thank you very very much! ) Nichole in Little Elm Fussy? Guest guest
Nichole. I recommend the Physician's Committee for Responsible Medicine (www.pcrm.org) for state of the art, scientifically verified nutrition information for people of all ages. PCRM publishes nutrition articles for women, who are pregnant as well as for those who wish to become informed on avoiding cancer, heart disease, obesity, diabetes, and a range of other ailments through nutrition. PCRM endorses the vegan diet. Margaret , Nichole Fausey-Khosraviani <ms_fausey wrote: > > I just discovered that I'm pregnant and I started a for vegan pregnancy. Guest guest
Hi Nichole, Congratulations! I also read the section on vegan pregnancy in The book Becoming vegan. The PCRM website has a great info on vegan pregnancy as Margaret recommended. I's very informative and detailed. I am a vegan mom with 22 month child and planning my second pregnancy to be vegan too. (My first was still ovo-lacto) I think that if you are use to vegan diet for a while it'll be pretty easy to make the right choices with your nutrition and just bump up the recommended nutrients like protein and fats = essential fatty acids, B12 and calcium. I am definitely taking prenatal vegetarian vitamins and really paying attention to omega 3s and DHA. I think besides those we really need to pay attention to bone health so the vitamins should have good bone formula combo calcium zinc and such as those nutrients get sucked out ouf our pregnant and nursing boddies regardless of our supplementation. Did I mentioned that I am still nursing? Yes, and my baby is quite boobie-addict so I might even breastfeed during second pregnancy. LOL Don't be afraid, just make sure you educate your self about all your nutritional needs. Good luck with your pregnancy. I am going to check out your group for sure as I hope to join you in such wonderfull state. :-) Barbara DFW Turtle & Tortoise Club www.dfwttc.org http://pets.DFWTurtleandTortoiseClub/ www.veggiechild.com Wear Your Attitude www.urbanveggie.com New vegan recipes , Nichole Fausey-Khosraviani <ms_fausey wrote: > > I just discovered that I'm pregnant and I started a for vegan pregnancy.
