Guest guest
Vegetarian Network of Dallas' position is that it is unequivocally wrong to eat the flesh of animals. Ours is an animal rights perspective. Animal welfare standards can not change the fact that regardless of how well an animal is treated before s/he is killed for food, s/he has still been murdered. But, we also feel that we must do as much as we can, whenever we can to alleviate animal suffering. So, please consider the below plea from "Animal People Online" http://www.animalfreedom.org . Thank you. MM *********************************** Western multinational chains Wal-Mart, TESCO, Carrefour, and Metro are selling and cruelly butchering live frogs and turtles at their Chinese stores - essentially engaging in practices that would be illegal in their home countries. The suffering of the animals is extreme: turtles may take up to an hour to die, and frogs may be skinned alive. China presently has no animal welfare laws. While animal activists in China are doing their best to get laws passed to protect animals from the worst abuses, western corporations should not be hindering their efforts by serving as the worst possible role models for how animals should be treated.
