Guest guest
Vegetarian Network of Dallas would like to include National Primate Liberation Week in our tabling education at Mystics, Mutts, and Moonpies on Oct 13. If you would like to coordinate activities for either the WFAD or the NPLW portion of VegNod's educational effort, please contact me ASAP. See my VegNod post # 727, "Sat. 10/13 World Farmed Animals Day-Save the Date" from earlier today for further information. Thank you. Margaret 972 578 0370 PLEASE FORWARD THIS EMAIL TO ALL ANIMAL ACTIVISTS AND ORGANIZATIONS National Primate Liberation Week, 2007120,000 Primates are Suffering for ExperimentationWhere will you be October 13th - 21st? Fellow Activists, I am contacting you to ask you to participate in National Primate Liberation Week (NPLW) 2007, the only event that focuses exclusively on the use of primates in laboratories. NPLW 2007 will be held October 13th - 21st. We are asking activists/organizations to stay within these dates if possible to promote the unity and cohesiveness of this event. However, if your event will be outside this time period by a few days in either direction, that is not a problem. Your events can be anything from protests to leafleting to news conferences to public forums. How you participate is up to you, but the 120,000 primates in the U.S. that suffer in laboratories are depending on us to make a difference. Remember, every day they are deprived of food and/or water, electrically shocked, subjected to addictive drugs, infectious diseases, and psychological distress. That is the reality of their lives. I know that many of you are aware of our website at www.saenonline.org Many parts of our website will enable you to participate more effectively in NPLW 2007. We have a facility reports and information section at: http://www.all-creatures.org/saen/res-fr.html that has information posted on several hundred research facilities. this page can be used to obtain recent government documents about laboratories in your area. The USDA website also has useful information: http://www.aphis.usda.gov/animal_welfare/efoia/7023.shtml Our Articles and Reports section also has a wealth of information for your use: http://www.all-creatures.org/saen/articles.html We also have a page http://www.all-creatures.org/saen/res-useful.html that lists internet based sources of information which will allow you to have accurate statistics about labs in your area. These pages will allow you to obtain information about labs from USDA inspections, to NIH funded grants, to medical journal articles that list experimental procedures. These resources are designed to allow you to work on this issue. And don't forget this page: http://www.all-creatures.org/saen/res.html which has the format for making FOIA requests, as well as public records act requests in over a dozen states, as well as government statistics on violations of the Animal Welfare Act by laboratories and other facilities. One of our most recent reports National Trends in Animal Welfare Act Violations by Laboratories at http://www.all-creatures.org/saen/articles-rep-nattrends2007.html will provide you with the information you need to dispel the notion that U.S. laboratories are well-regulated scientific institutions. In fact, violations of the Animal Welfare Act by laboratories has increased by over 90% in the last five years. Our fact sheet page at: http://www.all-creatures.org/saen/fact.html also has materials which will be useful to you for tabling or as handouts. At the moment, we would simply like to know if you are interested in participating in this event, and if there is anything we can do to help you get started. If you are interested in participating, then we will post the contact information for your organization (please send it with your reply) on our webpage for NPLW 2007. Or, you can use the participation form which is posted on our website at: http://www.all-creatures.org/saen/event-nplw-signon.html If you have any questions, or would like to discuss this event, please feel free to contact us by return email, or at the phone number below. Please remember that the 120,000 rhesus monkeys, chimpanzees, baboons, squirrel monkeys, marmosets, etc. that are used for experimentation every year are depending on you & I to fight for their freedom! Where will you be October 13th - 21st?Thanks for everything you do for animals! Sincerely, Michael A. Budkie, A.H.T.,Executive Director, SAEN513-575-5517 Pinpoint customers who are looking for what you sell.
