Want to speak up for animals in your area but don't know how to get started? Want to meet like-minded animal advocates in your area? Whether you're new to animal activism or a seasoned activist of many years, Speak Up for Animals is for you!

Next month, PETA will be hosting Speak Up for Animals in Austin. On Friday, October 12, we will be screening Earthlings, an award-winning animal rights documentary. On Saturday, October 13, we will be hosting a discussion about activism.

We will be screening the award-winning documentary Earthlings, which is narrated by Academy Award nominee Joaquin Phoenix. Powerful, informative, and thought-provoking, Earthlings is the most comprehensive documentary ever produced about the effects of human economic interests on animals and nature. Please bring your friends and family members to watch this life-changing film, which will be followed by a brief discussion.

Activism Discussion and NetworkingWhen: Saturday, October 13, 11 a.m.-2 p.m.Where: University Hills Branch Library, 4721 Loyola Ln., AustinRegistration: $10 in advance, $15 at the doorJoin lively discussion and a special training session that will cover topics such as outreach opportunities in your community, how to answer tough questions, and what you can do as one person to make a difference in your community—and beyond. Whether you are a novice or a seasoned activist, you will find this training session inspiring and motivational, and you'll leave with new friends and new ideas for how you can be a more effective advocate for animals.
