WSPA condemns animal cruelty in Puerto Rico

The World Society for the Protection of Animals (WSPA) condemns the recent acts of cruelty that caused the deaths of dogs and cats seized from residents of a public housing development and thrown off a bridge in Puerto Rico. WSPA is partnering with our member societies in Puerto Rico, as well as additional U.S.-based member societies, to protest these horrific acts of cruelty and call for the government to investigate and prosecute those responsible to the fullest extent of the law. WSPA is continuing to work with our member societies to build the capacity and strength of animal welfare groups on the island and to strongly advocate for the humane and compassionate treatment of animals in Puerto Rico, and around the world.

WSPA urges its supporters to join us in contacting the government officials listed below, to let them know that animal cruelty cannot be tolerated and to ask for their help in addressing animal welfare issues on the island.

Read a copy of the letter sent to government officials by WSPA, which you may use as an example for your own letters, to be sent to the addresses below. It is always better to personalize your letters as much as possible. "I like what WSPA does internationally. The way the world is now, animals of all kinds --- wildlife, farm animals, companion animals and working animals --- need all the help we can give them. People can make choices but animals are the innocent victims. I’m just glad that I’m able to provide the resources to help give some animals a better life." V. Starr HutchisonWSPA Supporter
