Millions of older people in the developing world rely on working with the land and livestock for a daily living. A cow can provide milk, meat and money. The work we fund supports older people in a way that will last, help them gain more independence and, given the right conditions, grow. For example an older person might receive two goats from a project, after a period of time they have four, one of which will be sold to pay for essential household items for the family. Any item

in our catalogue will have been selected following consultation with the communities we work with and assessment of what is most appropriate in that location. The gifts are part of an emergency response or long term development programme, and not provided in isolation. We ensure resources and infrastructure are in place to support the livestock, for example we operate water programmes in conjunction with livelihood activities which support farmers and small holders. The projects we fund ensure that livestock is procured locally, is fully screened by vets and then handed over to

the beneficiary with veterinary support. A livestock project will not just give livestock but will take into account food, water and veterinary support. We ensure resources and infrastructure are in place to support the livestock - for example we operate water programmes in conjunction with livelihood activities which support farmers and pastoralists. If you have any more questions or comments, please do contact us. These animals require food, water and care - something that is beyond the capabilities of most of these people. Do you have any idea how detrimental this is for the animals and people who we are supposed to be helping?
